Green Building Standards
At Evergreen Concepts, our primary objective is to build cost-effective, healthy, and energy efficient homes and cottages. While defining client needs, we make an effort to emphasize minimizing the environmental impact of our designs and projects.

Energy Star and Net Zero Performance
Well insulated, airtight homes can pay for themselves quickly though energy savings while providing greater occupant comfort and healthier indoor air.
At Evergreen Concepts, our minimum design standard includes higher than Ontario code requirements. We specify higher insulation values and better materials - meeting Energy Star design requirements.
A Net Zero home produces as much energy as it consumes, lowering energy costs and reducing environmental impact. Evergreen Concepts has trained staff with the expertise to design and build homes to Net Zero standards.
A Passive House is designed to reduce heating and cooling demand by 75% or more compared to a conventional code-compliant new build. We offer an optional collaboration with Tooketree, a local builder manufacturing prefab building panels that meet rigorous Passive House standards. Tooketree's innovative panels incorporate carbon-sequestering materials and minimize construction waste through highly optimized manufacturing processes. Tooketree's website also features an extensive library of resources for those interested in learning more about Passive House design, as well as detailed information on their high-performance panel systems and locally offered services.
If a Passive House standard is something you would like to explore with us and Tooketree - please contact us to find out more.
For clients seeking formal certification, we offer an optional collaboration with HomeSol, a Canadian energy consulting and building science firm specializing in high-performance construction. Working with HomeSol can help your project achieve Energy Star, Net Zero or both certifications, demonstrating that the home is energy-efficient, comfortable, and built to long-term performance standards.
The process is straightforward; for a small fee you receive professional guidance, energy advisor consultation, and certification support.
Please see our graphic below outlining the tiers of energy efficiency. Created as an easy to read chart on the benefits of building as tight and insulated as possible.
